Flat battery - even when I jump it!

Turns out after coming back from holiday, the battery was flat in my Ford.  Jumped it, it started, disconnected the leads, it died!

Turns out the battery is fully shorted and dead, so the circuit is broken when I remove the jump leads…..guess it’s been in the car for about 4 years so good use.  Typically in my Lexus, batteries last a year or 2.

Anyway I hope that’s the problem…..!

Gumball 3000

The Gumball 3000 has been cancelled after a Porsche crashed into a non-competing car in Macedonia.

Nicholas Morley, 30, and Matthew McConville, 32, in the Porsche, crashed then abandoned the scene of the accident and were apprehended later.  The victim died of a heart attack in hospital.

 Sad stuff.

Broken down Bentley…

I’ve always said British built cars are crap, and it’s no surprise that I travelled round the world, not seeing any broken down cars except…a Bentley Continental in Hong Kong.  The driver had the bonnet up and was crawling underneath the engine bay…..who knows what problems lied there but he was a looooong way from Bentley HQ.  Nice design, shit reliability, it’s Made In Britain alright.

Audi R8 catches fire at Nurburgring

The new Audi R8, rivalled to be the next Lamborghini in fact caught fire at the Ring and had to be extinguished.

Turns out an engine fire was to blame, not good publicity for Audi it must be said.

Lucky for the driver, no one was hurt.  Although the car (and Audi’s image) look a bit burnt…

New Honda S2000

New Honda S2000 is nearly here - 237hp, stiffer suspension, stiffer roll bars and lighter apparently.  The old model weighed in at 1280kilos, it’ll be interesting to see how light this one is in comparison.

2.2 Litre VTEC supplies the power, a great reliable unit as all VTECs are.

My guess is this is a more raw 2-seater softop to compete with the BMW Z4 which is a really hard ride but stiff chassis designed for outright handling.

The fat racing wing should be noted - basically it looks like an aero/suspension package on the old S2000 has been added, meaning that tuning is less of an issue.  The only thing you might upgrade are the discs/pads to racing spec for circuit driving.

Of course more power might be your thing, in which case a super-charger would probably suit the VTEC power plant.

A nice car that is sure to be reliable - I’d like to see some lap times on a circuit first to make an opinion.  The old S2000 ran the same times as Subaru WRX which had less power at the wheels.

Stay tuned for the track results….
